Louis Vuitton Makes Its Next Beauty Move With LV Crayon, A Collectible Lip Liner Designed By Dame Pat McGrath

There are beauty launches, and then there are launches that quietly signal a shift in the industry. LV Crayon belongs firmly in the latter category.

Arcadia is delighted to offer an early look at the latest expression of La Beauté Louis Vuitton, as the Maison continues to redefine what modern luxury beauty can be. Following the debut of its beauty universe under the creative direction of Dame Pat McGrath DBE, Louis Vuitton now turns its attention to perhaps the most unassuming item in a make-up bag and elevates it into something infinitely more desirable: a lip liner conceived with the same reverence usually reserved for leather goods, jewellery and travel trunks.

LV Crayon is not simply another lip pencil entering an already crowded category. It is Louis Vuitton’s interpretation of lip artistry itself. Developed by Dame Pat McGrath, whose relationship with the House spans more than two decades backstage at Louis Vuitton runway shows, the launch captures a technique that beauty insiders have long admired: the transformative power of a perfectly drawn lip line.

“Every look I have ever created on the Louis Vuitton runway begins with the lip line – it is where precision becomes art,”says McGrath.

And art it certainly feels like.

Each LV Crayon has been imagined as an objet d’art in its own right. The Maison’s iconic Monogram Flower informs the sculptural silhouette of the pencil, designed in collaboration with industrial designer Konstantin Grcic, while a matte black wooden body, ombré lacquered finish and gilded Monogram Flower cap ensure it possesses the tactile satisfaction expected from anything bearing the Louis Vuitton name.

The formula itself is equally considered. Peptide-infused and featherlight, LV Crayon promises the creamy glide of a balm with the precision of a backstage artist’s tool, offering smoothing, plumping and hydration benefits alongside impressive longevity. The result is lips that appear softly sculpted, fuller and impeccably defined without sacrificing comfort.

True to Louis Vuitton’s philosophy, the experience extends far beyond the pencil itself. A €400 sharpener, bespoke beauty pouches, blending brushes and Monogram canvas storage pieces reinforce the idea that beauty at Louis Vuitton is not transactional. It is collectible, ritualistic and deeply personal.

Perhaps that is what feels most exciting about LV Crayon. At a moment when beauty often moves at breakneck speed, Louis Vuitton is proposing something slower and more enduring: beauty tools designed to be cherished, displayed and passed from vanity to vanity with the same affection as a beloved handbag.

LV Crayon doesn’t merely launch a new product category for Louis Vuitton. It confirms that La Beauté Louis Vuitton intends to occupy a space few houses can truly claim where make-up becomes craftsmanship, and craftsmanship becomes desire.
