7 Products That Make Your Hair Healthier

The countdown is on until our beloved salons can open and our favourite home hairdressers are back – thank goodness. But here’s what to use on your locks until then

For those who haven’t been brave enough to do a home haircut (or lucky enough to live with a hairdresser), it’s been a minute since our hair has had some proper TLC. With a few more weeks until we can have a proper chop, dye and blowout, here are some top products for healthier hair while we wait. From combating frizz, nourishing dry, split ends and adding shine to lacklustre locks, your hair will be looking great and feeling amazing.

Clean scalp

This new launch from Hello Klean helps to balance the scalp’s pH levels and remove a build-up of product. Things like pollution, hard water and shampoo can mess with the scalp’s natural pH level which can cause itching, flakes, dryness and oiliness. Apply this Clarifying Scalp Soak for five minutes to remove impurities and give your hair follicles some much-needed nourishment.

Condition, condition, condition

It’s no surprise that one of Philip Kingsley’s Elasticizer is sold every minute. If you haven’t tried this award-winner yet, the nourishing mask can be used on coarse, fine, medium and naturally coiled curls. Fun fact: Kingsley created the hair treatment in 1974 for Audrey Hepburn who was his client. Its conditioning formula helps to strengthen hair and increase shine. Simply dampen your hair and apply generously through the mid-lengths and ends then cover with a shower cap and relax for 20 minutes. Wash the mask out before you shampoo and style as usual.

All about the avocados

We can’t get enough of avocado in our salads and smoothies, full of benefits from healthy fats, minerals and vitamins. That’s why Faith In Nature has added the superfood to their hair range. The shampoo and conditioner smell fresh (with 100% natural fragrance), are suitable for vegans, cruelty-free and made without SLS (a chemical often used in soaps which can irritate some people). The shampoo lathers up and helps to soothe dry, itchy scalps, while the conditioner adds moisture to your locks. We love that the bottles are made from 100% recycled materials and can be recycled again.

Protect your locks

With summer on its way, protect your hair from heat and UV rays with this super lightweight oil mist. The primer’s formula contains a blend of oils – including coconut, argan and sweet almond – that help to de-frizz, condition, soften, detangle and tame locks all without weighing it down or making it look greasy. Whether your hair is straight or curly, spritz a little over while it’s damp and style as usual or leave to dry naturally.

Techy hair tool

It probably won’t be news to you that heat isn’t great for our hair’s health. Straightening irons, hairdryers and curling tongs can all cause damage. Drying your hair too often removes moisture while hot tools destroy strands. Both can lead to breakage. Enter Dyson’s tech-fuelled AirWrap Styler. But does the tool live up to the hype? Yes. With different heads to attach, you can dry, straighten, curl or create a big, voluminous blowout at home. The tech, which took 15 engineers to design and is similar to a jet engine, uses airflow instead of heat to style. It monitors and adjusts the heat so your hair doesn’t burn. Salon-fresh hair at home has never been so easy.
