Built on the former Newport Beachside Hotel & Resort, The Sunny has been thoughtfully transformed to reflect a new vision for connection-driven, culturally rich hospitality. Led by a third-generation family of hoteliers and designed by the award-winning EoA Group, The Sunny blends elevated design with warmth, nostalgia, and community. With bold citrus references, biophilic interiors, and an eclectic curated art collection, including pieces by Mariko Mori and Jorge Blanco.

The Sunny will be home to 339 reimagined guest rooms with comfort as the primary goal. Soft textures, warm wood tones and a serene colour palette make the space feel fresh yet familiar. If you’re missing someone while travelling, guests can find vintage postcards to send a message to someone they love by simply filling them in and dropping them in the lobby’s Big Yellow Mailbox. For those travelling for work, your room can be transformed into a ‘work from anywhere suite’ with on-demand items like monitors, standing desks, and more.
Culinary
Debuting with six food and beverage concepts, including ¡VIVA! Chef Ray Garcia’s first East Coast restaurant, celebrating bold modern Mexican cuisine, and Lovebirds Café, a playful take on the neighbourhood bodega-meets-coffee-shop. Plus, Citrus Shack, a vibrant, sun-soaked oasis, serving up fresh pool and beach staples and of course, accompanied by citrus-focused cocktails.
