Claudiu Dumitrache, one of Eastern Europe’s most remarkable young artistic talents, is now considering a return to the stage — 14 years after pop superstar Miley Cyrus personally encouraged him at the outset of his career.
In a recent interview with Love Belfast, Dumitrache admitted that he still carries the nostalgia of his early concerts. He is searching for the right moment to continue his musical journey.
His Remarkable Climb
Now recognised as a musician, prolific writer, cultural entrepreneur and founder of Myosotis Media Group, Dumitrache first made his mark as a performer. Shortly after Miley Cyrus taught him to sing her iconic song ‘The Climb’, he went on to win major awards, including Best Male Voice and the Prize for Exceptional Vocal Technique and Expressiveness in Bucharest. Over the years, he has performed in more than 3,000 shows. In 2016, he was awarded the Special Prize by Music Awards TV.
Recognising his talent and presence, blues legend Eb Davis described Dumitrache as having a “very smooth emotional vocal range and a commanding stage presence.” Other international figures who have praised him include Jonathan Jackson, Kaven Girouard (guitarist for Céline Dion), Michael James Down, Michaela Rose, members of the Grammy voting committee, Disney actors, as well as leading artists and business figures across Europe and the United States.
A revelation from Wallachia
In 2024, Beverly Hills Magazine highlighted him as ‘the European Artist of the Month’. In Hollywood, he was hailed as ‘a revelation from Wallachia.’ Beyond his musical career, Dumitrache has become a pivotal figure in Romania’s cultural landscape. Over the past five years, he has invested nearly €1 million in youth festivals, educational programmes, and the prestigious Myosotis Awards. This platform has honoured legendary figures such as Olympic champion Nadia Comăneci, Emmy Award-winning actor Jonathan Jackson, composer Eugen Doga, and acclaimed actress Maia Morgenstern.
Apart from his artistic pursuits, Dumitrache also served for nearly five years as Ambassador of Culture for the Euro Education Federation. In this role, he played a key part in expanding the network’s cultural and educational initiatives across Europe. As Love Belfast noted: “He approached cultural projects with the same resolve and vision as a Silicon Valley entrepreneur might bring to a start-up — combining heart, hard work, and foresight.”
He has produced a Romanian-language version of Harry Styles’ song ‘Sign of the Times’, which received an award from Radio Romania International. Alongside his pleasing voice, Kaven Girouard, guitarist for Céline Dion, particularly praised Dumitrache’s rendition, admitting that he had always loved the song and calling it ‘an awesome version’. Dumitrache has also released a cover of Niall Horan’s ‘Nice to Meet Ya’. Romanian music critics have praised it for introducing fresh elements and giving it a subtly different vibe compared with Horan’s original.
At the beginning of his career in Romania, he also gained recognition with his performance of ‘Let Her Go’ by Passenger. He later produced a Romanian-language version of Freya Ridings’ ‘Lost Without You’.
Other notable interpretations by Claudiu Dumitrache of songs by British artists include ‘Defined’ (Ronan Parke), ‘Concrete’ and ‘Another Love’ (Tom Odell), ‘How Long Will I Love You’ (Ellie Goulding), ‘Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word’ (Elton John & Blue) and ‘Soldier of Fortune’ (Deep Purple).
Already one of the most awarded Romanian artists in music, journalism, and literature, Dumitrache has left a lasting imprint on his country’s cultural identity. A potential return to music would continue a dream first born in his adolescence — a dream that may soon carry his voice onto international stages.
