When two icons come together, magic happens. A beloved tradition returns to Beverly Hills this spring as the iconic Polo Lounge at The Beverly Hills Hotel, part of the Dorchester Collection, reintroduces its afternoon tea service—this time with a refined British twist. In a first-of-its-kind collaboration with sister property The Dorchester in London, the service will be offered from May 8 through June 28, every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm.
Bridging the heritage of two legendary hotels, the experience transports the charm of London’s tea culture into the verdant, sun-dappled setting of the Polo Lounge. Inspired by the recently renovated interiors of The Dorchester—an ambitious reimagining of its legacy for the modern era—the afternoon tea at The Beverly Hills Hotel is a celebration of timeless elegance, elevated with California flair.
The menu is the work of The Beverly Hills Hotel’s culinary director Ashley James, a British native who has infused the offering with both reverence and creativity. Guests can look forward to a classic array of savory finger sandwiches, including smoked salmon with capers and lemon cream, followed by a selection of exquisite pastries crafted by executive pastry chef Jonathan Fisher. Highlights include pistachio choux, chocolate mini tarts, and the signature scones served warm with traditional clotted cream and house-made preserves.
A curated list of rare teas—sourced exclusively from The Dorchester—accompanies the experience, served on the same elegant bone china used at the London hotel, further underscoring the authenticity of the occasion.
“It’s an incredible honor to partner with our sister hotel, The Dorchester, a beacon of sophistication and timeless elegance in the heart of London, as we bring afternoon tea back to the Polo Lounge,” says Chef Ashley James. “Their recent transformation has redefined the hotel’s heritage with a bold, contemporary sensibility—something we’ve channeled into this tea experience. Every detail, from the selection of teas to the presentation of seasonal ingredients, reflects the artistry and inspiration that define both properties.”
With limited seatings and high anticipation, the return of afternoon tea at The Beverly Hills Hotel promises a luxurious interlude that blends British tradition with Californian glamour—an experience destined to become a highlight of the season.
