Have you had lymphatic drainage before? Sure. But have you had a Shape House sculptural lymphatic drainage? The Aussie brand shaking up London’s wellness scene has just launched a new pop-up in the heart of Marylebone and it’s unlike anything I’ve experienced before in London.
So, what sets Shape House apart, I hear you ask? Founders Olivia Ferrary and Georgie Wright certainly know a thing or two about lymphatic drainage, thanks to their extensive training in Australia and Bali. Each session is thoughtfully tailored to meet the client’s individual needs, with advice ranging from in-session techniques to take-home tips, like spending 20 minutes with your legs up the wall at the end of the day to reduce swelling and boost circulation.
This isn’t just a treatment for the body, it’s a full sensory reset. Shape House’s curated menu is designed to detox, sculpt, and reduce fluid retention and inflammation, while improving circulation and giving your immune system a serious lift.
The moment I stepped into the treatment room for 75 minutes of their signature Pump Flow session, I felt the shift. The soft glow of Himalayan salt lamps created an immediate sense of calm and warmth. I settled onto the uber-cosy treatment bed heated, although I opted to keep it off as London was in the middle of a heatwave.
Olivia welcomed me with a deep inhale of the brand’s uplifting, custom-blended orange aromatherapy oil, imported from Australia. As someone who adores orange scents, it hit all the right notes. Paired with deep belly breathing, it instantly calmed my ever-growing, to-do-list-filled mind.
Headphones were gently placed over my ears, playing a calming audio track designed to support the nervous system and guide me into a state of deep relaxation. An eye mask followed, sealing the moment for complete zen.
The treatment began with dry body brushing using the softest bristles I’ve ever felt, followed by their signature “pump effect” technique, a rhythmic, wave-like hand movement designed to stimulate lymphatic flow and release fascia tension. This unique combination targets inflammation, water retention, congestion, and built-up toxins.
The rest of the treatment? Honestly, it’s a bit of a blur. That’s how deeply relaxed I was. I may have even drifted off. But afterwards? I felt lighter in that true, floaty, feather-like way.
What truly sets Shape House apart is its attention to detail. Every detail is carefully considered and serves a purpose, from the soft amber lighting and the meditative soundtrack (which ends with the sound of ocean waves gently crashing), to the aromatherapy spritz and the post-treatment cup of pure liquorice tea, thoughtfully sourced from Australia. It’s rare to find pure liquorice tea in the UK, so I was straight on Google as soon as I left the clinic to try and find an alternative, hoping to take a little piece of that calming experience home with me and recreate the moment whenever I needed a reset.
A quick post-treatment selfie in the mirror revealed the cheeky message: “Draining, but in a good way.” The perfect note to end on and I couldn’t agree more.
