You know you’ve stumbled somewhere a little out of the ordinary when the vibe instantly transports you to a sun-soaked Australian east coast summer right in the heart of Soho. Milk Beach has captured that effortless, laid-back Aussie energy with its Sunday Sessions, bringing the feel of beachside brunches, long lunches, and lively socialising to the city. Along with the food and drinks, it’s brought a dose of Australian sunshine with it. From brunch favourites to robata barbecue dishes, the menu runs every Sunday from 12–5pm until the end of September, so make the most of London’s sun-soaked weekends and don’t worry if the rain makes an appearance, as the courtyard is covered and there’s always indoor seating too.
The courtyard is the beating heart of the Sunday Sessions experience. With a live DJ setting the soundtrack, the space calls for long, leisurely lunches and social gatherings, just as you might enjoy in Australia. The food has been designed for sharing, evoking a day on the beach with friends – easy to graze on, yet also enjoyable as individual dishes if you’re not a sharer. You know you’re onto a winner when there’s a table of Aussies dining beside you, confirming that the dishes taste like home.
The menu is divided into brunch, plates, robata grill, and sides, with standout options as vibrant as the setting itself. Flame-grilled garlic prawns with fermented chilli butter (generous portions perfect for drizzling over fries) deliver smoky, beachside barbecue perfection. The 450g pork tomahawk glazed with tamarind, honey, and garlic comes with house-made fermented chilli sauce for sharing. Koji-marinated chicken schnitty is golden and crisp, served alongside fermented chilli mayo, while the aubergine karaage with mirin glaze and peanut crumb ranks among our top five aubergine dishes…melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Sweet potato fritters with smoked salmon, poached eggs, and dill yoghurt balance indulgence with freshness and are a Milk Beach brunch favourite. No visit is complete without a side of Chicken Salt chips or homemade sourdough with cultured butter.
Cocktails are another highlight, particularly the collaboration with Papa Salt Coastal Gin. The Papa Salt Paloma is a must-try, alongside the mango chilli margarita, with gin featuring across the menu in cocktails and newly crafted sharing jugs designed to pass around the table. For non-alcoholic options, there’s a wide range of fresh juices, smoothies, kombuchas, pink lattes, matcha, and chai. Inside, the light, breezy space mirrors the courtyard, making it an airy, relaxed escape from the city. Even small details, like ocean-wave sounds subtly playing in the bathrooms, add to the escapist experience.
Located next to Warner Brothers Studios, Milk Beach even offers occasional celebrity spotting – Tom Cruise is known to pop by from time to time. If you’re after something fresher than the typical Sunday roast, Milk Beach provides an alternative Sunday lunch with sunshine (weather permitting), cocktails, curated dishes, DJs, and an Australian-inspired wine list.
Watch this space for the autumn edition of Sunday Sessions – the perfect way to continue enjoying that beachside Australian energy in London well into the cooler months.
