A New Glossary of Beauty: Harriet Westmoreland’s Nail Revolution

The launch of Westmoreland Cosmetics marks a defining moment in modern beauty: the debut brand from globally revered nail artist Harriet Westmoreland. Her first collection, Vanilla Gloss, introduces a new language of luxury nail care subtle, weightless, and quietly transformative.

For years, Harriet’s meticulous artistry has shaped the aesthetics of fashion houses, red-carpet icons, and modern royalty. Now, with Westmoreland Cosmetics, she has distilled that legacy into a collection of products that embody performance and poetry in equal measure.

Arcadia sat down exclusively with Harriet to uncover the story behind the brand, the inspirations that defined Vanilla Gloss, and her vision for the future of nails.

Building a Language of Luxury

Harriet’s approach to nails has always been more about feeling than fashion. “I grew up watching my grandmother apply the same shade every Saturday,” she recalls. “It wasn’t about trends, it was about how it made her feel. That really stayed with me.”

It’s that spirit of ritual and timelessness that informs the Glass Gels and Glass Polishes, the cornerstones of her launch collection. These formulas, long requested by clients and fellow nail professionals, were designed to deliver the elusive “your nails but better” finish: sheer, weightless, and glass-like.

“I actually started Westmoreland Cosmetics because I couldn’t find the nail products I was looking for,” Harriet explains. “Formulas that were lightweight, glass-like, sheer, and in the perfect color palette just didn’t exist. Our formulas contain no white pigments, so there’s no ashiness or chalky finish, the result is a sheer, glass-like effect that feels completely weightless.”

The Inspiration Behind Vanilla Gloss

For Harriet, the starting point was always going to be neutrals. “The first collection, Vanilla Gloss, is inspired by the vanilla girl, her lifestyle, what she wears on her nails, the things that she does day-to-day,” she tells us. “Myself and Olivia, my business partner, always wear neutrals, so it felt like the perfect place to start.”

This first drop includes five translucent Glass Gel tones and five sheer Glass Polishes, each designed to flatter every undertone with clarity and gloss. They’re professional-grade yet approachable, bringing Harriet’s signature finish from the private appointment to the everyday ritual.

A Dream Years in the Making

Launching Westmoreland Cosmetics wasn’t an overnight decision. “Creating my own line has always been my goal,” Harriet says. “I’d been working on it for about five years, but the moment it became real was when I met Olivia. We were so aligned in our vision that it just felt right. That’s when I realised the timing was perfect to make this dream a reality.”

Backed by decades of experience and a black book of clients ranging from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to Zendaya, Harriet’s launch feels like a natural evolution. Yet it’s also a filling of a gap in the market: a professional-grade nail brand that prioritises both performance and elegance.

Looking Ahead

With seasonal collections already on the horizon, Harriet envisions Westmoreland Cosmetics evolving with the cadence of fashion. “Over the next five years, we hope to become a global brand, available in leading beauty and luxury retailers,” she shares. “We’ll be dropping collections almost like in fashion, with four to six seasonal edits each year depending on the vision.”

For now, Vanilla Gloss marks the beginning: a collection as personal as it is professional, blending heritage, innovation, and Harriet’s signature aesthetic into a new era of nail care.
