My Little Luxuries with Director Breyanna Lynn

Breanna Lynn is a New York–based director and producer working across narrative film, music videos, and commercial storytelling. After graduating from UCLA in 2020, she rapidly scaled her freelance career from scrappy, self-produced music videos to founding her own production house, Leveret Studios.

Leveret Studios is a director-led production company focused on bold, narrative-focused commercial work that preserves the texture and intimacy of independent filmmaking. Through Leveret, Breanna prioritizes female-driven narratives and actively creates opportunities for young women within the production space. Her work is defined by an analog sensibility, practical world-building, and performance-led storytelling that feels both cinematic and tactile.

Her recent spec commercial, Drive It Like You Stole It, began as a challenge: how far could she push a luxury automotive campaign, one of advertising’s most expensive verticals, with no budget? With zero funding, Breanna assembled an 80+ person crew working pro bono, staged precision driving stunts at an active airport, collaborated with ARRI’s virtual production studio, and delivered a fully realized, industry-level commercial. The project stands as a testament to creative conviction, and a reminder that life responds to your level of audacity.

  1. When I need to reset, I always… take a long walk (or a long drive) blasting a killer playlist. If it’s truly dire, I’m calling a friend to remind me we’re on a spinning rock in the middle of space.
  2. To make ordinary tasks feel special, I… carry a disposable camera everywhere and snap an obscene amount of photos. Developing the film weeks late, and forgetting what’s on it, turns the mundane into something you look for the glimmer in.
  3. The ritual that helps me feel connected to myself is… journaling as if I’m rewriting my life as a mid-90s New York sitcom. Levity is essential, as is laughing at ourselves.
  4. A piece of art that inspires me… Almost Famous will always have my heart; I made me want to direct since the first time I saw it at thirteen. On most days though, inspiration sounds like Jeff Buckley, Mazzy Star, Otis Redding, or some mixed CD I found at the bottom of a Goodwill bin.
  5. My room service order is… a Shirley Temple. Or an espresso. TIramisu if it’s available.
  6. When I’m travelling I always treat myself to… a photobooth strip or five, if I’m lucky enough to stumble upon a photobooth. If not, we have the disposable in my bag.
  7. When I have time to myself, I love to… dance around the apartment in my underwear, blasting music straight out of the speakers, no headphones.
  8. I feel most connected to others when I… am simply coexisting with them; making art in the same room, stepping away to say “I love you” or asking for feedback, reconvening to cook dinner later, reading highlighted parts of our current books together.
  9. My favorite scent is… burning incense. Or traces of old cologne on clothing.
  10. I love collecting… CDs. I was recently gifted a clear vertical CD player with an insane sound system from the early 2000s; watching the disc spin feels like performance art.
  11. A song that brings my joy… anything by the Bee Gees (of course).
  12. My skincare routine isn’t complete without… a heavy layer of Aquaphor before bed.
  13. I feel the most beautiful when I… have jumped in the ocean that day.
  14. To celebrate, I treat myself to… takeout on the living room floor with friends, or a long drive to pick up some strange analog treasure from Facebook Marketplace. I recently scored a mint condition Playstation 2.
  15. A city with a special place in my heart… Barcelona. I was there for Primavera Sound one summer and basically had to be dragged out screaming to get me to leave.
  16. My favorite food in the world is served… in a takeout box, on the floor, with music playing and people I love nearby. Bonus points if leftovers are involved the next morning.
  17. On a Sunday morning you can find me… living inside “Cigarettes and Coffee” by Otis Redding. Or on set, which feels like its own kind of heaven and usually involves both of the aforementioned.

If I was given $1,000,000.00 I would… fund my friends’ art projects and insist we at least consider shooting them abroad. Also, selfishly? Restore a beat-up 1973 Bronco.
