The Countdown Begins: Six Unmissable Experiences Coming to MSC World Asia

MSC Cruises is officially counting down to the arrival of MSC World Asia, the line’s highly anticipated new flagship, which will be named on 28 November 2026 in Le Havre, France, before setting sail on her inaugural Mediterranean season from 4 December 2026.

Bold, ambitious and designed for a new era of cruising, MSC World Asia is the latest ship in MSC Cruises’ World Class fleet, a collection created to celebrate the beauty, diversity and spirit of the world’s continents and oceans. Inspired by Asia’s rich culture, artistry and landscapes, the ship will combine elegant design with high-energy entertainment, immersive dining, standout family experiences and some of the most thrilling attractions at sea.

Following her naming ceremony in Le Havre, complete with the traditional breaking of a champagne bottle on the bow, MSC World Asia will begin seven-night Mediterranean itineraries from Barcelona. Guests will sail to some of the region’s most iconic destinations, including Marseille, Messina, Civitavecchia for Rome, Naples and Valletta, with embarkation available at every port.

The naming ceremony itself promises to be a spectacular celebration, bringing together leading figures from the global travel industry, international media, partners and invited guests for an evening where maritime tradition meets contemporary glamour.

Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises, said:

“Our World Class ships have been a great success with guests, and MSC World Asia, the third of eight in this class, marks the next step in this journey. As we look ahead to her inaugural Mediterranean season, we are proud to continue delivering ships that reflect our vision, innovation, beautiful design, and focus on the guest experience, with each one raising the bar even further.

“I’m also proud to announce that Captain Paolo Benini will take the helm of MSC World Asia, in recognition of his outstanding leadership on MSC Euribia, including during its recent deployment in Dubai. Having joined MSC Cruises in 2024 with a distinguished maritime career, he is widely respected for his calm, people-focused command and is the ideal choice to lead this remarkable new flagship.”

With just six months to go until her first sailing, MSC Cruises has revealed six must-do experiences that guests can look forward to on board.

The Cliffhanger

Not for the faint-hearted, Cliffhanger will make its European debut aboard MSC World Asia. Towering 50 metres above the open sea, this exhilarating over-water swing ride sends guests soaring back and forth high above the ocean.

It is the kind of attraction that turns a sea day into a story: adrenaline, salt air, endless blue views and the very real sensation of being suspended between ship and sky.

The Spiral @ Tree of Life

Set to become the longest dry slide at sea, The Spiral @ Tree of Life will stretch an impressive 81.3 metres, sending guests hurtling through 11 decks in a matter of seconds.

Inspired by the iconic trees of Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay, the slide is both an architectural centrepiece and a high-speed thrill ride. It brings together MSC World Asia’s design-led personality with pure, childlike excitement.

The Twin Racer and U Drop Waterslides

For guests chasing speed, splash and a little friendly rivalry, the Twin Racer waterslides offer side-by-side racing action, while the U Drop slide delivers a sharper hit of adrenaline high above the deck.

Located in the ship’s lively Family Aventura district, these attractions are designed for shared moments, competitive streaks and the kind of holiday memories that begin with, “Again?”

Adventure Trail High Ropes Course

The Adventure Trail invites guests to test their balance, bravery and nerve on a two-level ropes course suspended above the ocean.

Spanning 6,210 square feet and featuring Sky Rails similar to a zip line, the course brings together physical challenge and spectacular sea views. It is part playground, part adventure course, with the Mediterranean glittering below.

The MSC Formula Racer

Formula 1® fans will be able to take their place on the grid with the MSC Formula Racer in the Hall of Games.

The two-seat simulator places guests behind the wheel of a virtual high-speed Formula 1® car, offering an immersive racing experience that reflects MSC Cruises’ ongoing global partnership with Formula 1®. Fast, competitive and brilliantly immersive, it brings the energy of the track to the middle of the ocean.

MSC Luna Park Arena

One of the most exciting new entertainment spaces on board, MSC Luna Park Arena is set to become one of MSC Cruises’ most innovative interactive venues to date.

Using immersive digital technology, the floor transforms into a dynamic gaming arena where guests can compete in high-energy interactive experiences, a first of its kind on any MSC Cruises ship. The venue will also host original game shows including Code Breakers, Labyrinth and Chart Toppers, alongside themed parties and entertainment across two decks.

By day, it is playful and immersive. By night, it becomes a full-throttle entertainment hub.

A New Flagship for the Mediterranean

Beyond the headline attractions, MSC World Asia will feature more than 40 bars, lounges and restaurants, seven pools, 13 hot tubs, immersive family entertainment and thoughtfully curated artworks inspired by Asia’s landscapes and traditions.

The ship will also offer the largest variety of MSC Yacht Club suite categories to date, creating an elevated ship-within-a-ship experience for guests seeking privacy, space and refined service.

With her mix of design, dining, entertainment, adrenaline and Mediterranean glamour, MSC World Asia is shaping up to be one of the most exciting cruise launches of 2026. From Le Havre to Barcelona and beyond, the countdown has officially begun.
