Launching ahead of Disney’s live-action Moana film release on 10 July, the new Disney Moana-inspired Afternoon Tea transforms the traditional Mayfair ritual into a colourful celebration of storytelling, tropical flavours and childhood wonder. The experience marks the latest chapter in the Royal Recipe Book series, created in collaboration with Disney.
From the moment guests take their seats, the attention to detail is enchanting. Cinderella’s iconic glass slippers are filled with colourful bon bons, while Moana-themed cakes are beautifully presented within a miniature chest of drawers adorned with shimmering gold shell handles. Hot chocolates arrive crowned with delicate hearts crafted from colourful sprinkles, adding another layer of magic to an already imaginative experience.
Inspired by Moana’s journey as a courageous Wayfinder dreaming of life beyond the reef, the afternoon tea embraces the colours and spirit of the Pacific islands. Beautifully presented and thoughtfully executed, it strikes a perfect balance between luxury afternoon tea and playful family entertainment.
The sweet selection tells the story particularly well. Heart of Te Fiti combines matcha biscuit, cream cheese filling and white chocolate, while Taste of the Sea delivers vibrant notes of passion fruit curd, pineapple compote and lime zest. Island Flowers layers vanilla mousse with strawberry and hibiscus compote atop buttery shortbread, while Drop in the Ocean pairs coconut mousse with a chocolate crunchy centre finished with a dusting of coconut.
Elsewhere, Warm Not So Grumpy Apple Pies bring comforting flavours of apple and cinnamon, while chocolate truffles presented as The Shoe Fits offer a playful nod to Disney royalty. Completing the sweet offering are The Wayfinder Scones, available in both plain and fruit varieties and served with all the classic accompaniments expected of a traditional afternoon tea.

Highlights include The Carriage Awaits, a plant-based chicken sandwich with pumpkin and sage mousse; From The Bayou, featuring Beyond Meat with horseradish and dill mousse; and Ma Cherie Sandwich, layered with watermelon, grilled pepper, dill and lemon-zest cream. Freshly prepared Disney Tiana-inspired beignets add another whimsical touch.
To accompany the menu, guests can choose from a carefully curated tea selection, including a rare hand-plucked black tea grown in Jersey and Chocolate Velvet, a fragrant Taiwanese Oolong blend infused with cocoa, raspberry and crème caramel.
