Last Friday night was one for the history books. What was supposed to be a “casual catch-up” with the girls spiralled – spectacularly – into the most epic, slightly debaucherous girls’ night I’ve had in ages, and it all went down at BAM Karaoke Box in Victoria.
From the second we walked in, I knew this wasn’t your average karaoke dive. BAM feels like a slice of Paris tucked into London, with velvet everything, theatrical lighting, and 22 gorgeously themed private rooms. We ended up in the Polo Room, which had serious equestrian-chic vibes – perfect for dramatically crooning into the mic while pretending we were in a Bridgerton spin-off.
But let’s be real: no amount of Mariah impressions would have been half as good without the unbelievable food. BAM just launched a new menu by Sabrina Gidda – and trust me, it’s a game-changer. We demolished plates of devilled eggs gribiche (why are devilled eggs not at every party?), fought over the steak tartare croustades, and completely surrendered to the confit duck flatbread drizzled with orange marmalade. There was even a moment where we were genuinely weighing up whether ordering a second flatbread would ruin our chances of hitting the high notes later (we ordered it anyway – zero regrets).
Feeling fancy, we splurged on the Ooh La La London Platter – caviar, crème fraîche, shallots, chives – the whole glamorous setup. We clinked glasses, laughed way too hard, and started belting out power ballads with increasingly dramatic hand gestures.
And speaking of glasses – the cocktails. Oh my goodness, the cocktails. I’m still dreaming about the Proud Nelly (gin, yuzu, lychee nectar) and the Victoreador (tequila and apricot brandy – dangerously drinkable). Every sip seemed to boost our confidence by at least 20%. (Coincidence? I think not.)
We rounded off the night at the BAM BAM Bar downstairs, where a DJ was spinning absolute bangers. Cue more dancing, more silliness, a few off-key Britney renditions, and a lot of “I love you guys!” declarations.
And if you’re still figuring out your Eurovision plans, BAM Karaoke Box has you covered. They’re hosting a Eurovision screening party in the BAM BAM Bar on Saturday, May 17, and tickets start at just £7 including a drink. From 7PM, you can dive into Eurovision-themed cocktails, a Swiss-inspired Alpine menu, and a DJ-hosted screening on the big screen, all decked out with European flags and festive vibes.
There’ll be prizes, games, a Eurovision flag wall, and lots of Swiss surprises to celebrate this year’s host country. Once the final’s over, the night keeps going with an open mic for Eurovision anthems and a best-dressed competition – so dust off your sequins or channel your inner Heidi!
Honestly, BAM Karaoke Box isn’t just another night out – it’s a full-blown spectacle. Singing, eating, laughing until your sides hurt – it’s everything a Friday night (or Eurovision Saturday!) should be.
If you’re looking for a place where you can be ridiculous, glamorous, and utterly yourself (with a killer menu to match), BAM is it. Already planning the next one – only this time, we’re getting the room with the zebra theme.
