For International Women’s Day, Christian Dior Parfums has reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to women’s empowerment through its partnership with actress and humanitarian Charlize Theron and her organisation, the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP). Together, the collaboration focuses on creating opportunities for young women in South Africa, supporting initiatives that prioritise education, leadership and community development.

The partnership, which has been evolving for several years, reflects a shared belief in the power of women to drive meaningful social change. Dior Beauty has supported CTAOP since 2021, helping to fund programmes that improve health, safety and future opportunities for young people in underserved communities, with a particular emphasis on empowering young women to become leaders within their own environments.

Charlize Theron, who founded CTAOP in 2007, has long been passionate about giving back to her home country. Through the organisation, she works closely with local leaders and community partners who are addressing complex social challenges. According to Theron, the strength and resilience of female leadership within these communities is what continues to inspire the project’s work.
A key pillar of the partnership is the Youth Leaders Scholarship Program, which provides educational scholarships and mentorship opportunities to young people from under-resourced backgrounds. Supported by Christian Dior Parfums since 2021, the initiative currently supports 20 scholars pursuing careers across fields including education, health sciences, business, film and media, and gender advocacy. These young leaders are seen not only as students, but as future change makers committed to building stronger communities.

Beyond education, the programme also supports grassroots organisations making an immediate impact. One such initiative is Philisa Abafazi Bethu (PAB), meaning “Heal Our Women,” founded by community leader Lucinda Evans. Located in a township affected by high levels of crime and gender-based violence, the centre provides a safe and supportive environment for women, children, LGBTQAI+ youth and elderly members of the community. The facility offers emergency services, after-school programmes, trauma support and creative activities designed to help young people process difficult experiences while building confidence and resilience.
Through its work with CTAOP, Dior Beauty emphasises a broader vision of “human sustainability”, where long-term change is driven by education, opportunity and collective action. By investing in both community organisations and emerging leaders, the partnership aims to create a lasting cycle of empowerment that extends far beyond a single generation.
For Theron, the message of International Women’s Day remains simple but powerful: women supporting one another is essential to creating meaningful progress. The collaboration between Dior Beauty and CTAOP is a reflection of that belief – a reminder that real change often begins with partnership, purpose and the determination to build a better future together.
