A cult pan‑Asian favourite is quietly commandeering the plush lounge at 100 Wardour Street, thanks to a new creative marriage with Freak Scene – the rebellious brainchild of Scott Hallsworth, former Nobu head chef and founder of Kurobuta. Running until November, this bold little residency taps straight into Soho’s after‑work hum – a cheeky takeover with serious flavour.
Start with “Freaky Hour” – from 4 pm to 6 pm each day, £5 cocktails flow from 100 Wardour’s excellent bar, the delicious pours complementing the velvety ambience on the ground floor. It’s just the beginning – a playful prelude before the pan‑Asian dishes start arriving, turning happy hour into something far more indulgent.
The menu is full of playful surprises. The Scorched Edamame is incredible – something so simple, yet combined with lemon, sake‑butter and a little fire, it becomes entirely unexpected. The signature Singapore Chilli Crab Wonton “Bombs” deliver cheeky pops of heat and umami, paying deep homage to the hawker dish. Sashimi Tacos – crunchy shells loaded with yellowtail, tuna or salmon – bring instant excitement to the table. The Jerusalem Artichoke “Chopsticks”, dipped into truffle‑Ponzu sauce, pair perfectly with whatever’s in your glass. Berkshire Pork Belly Kushi skewers, lacquered in red miso, hit that sweet-savoury balance with ease.
Add to that a well-considered spread of sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi and a full Omakase offering for those leaning in, and you’ve got a dinner that dances between casual and curated. So whether you’re chasing cocktails, chasing someone, or settling in for Saturday’s bottomless brunch, this is Soho in a looser setting – stylish, slightly unhinged, and better for it.
