Tucked discreetly beneath the buzz of central London, Mistress of Mayfair seduces from the very first step below street level. With its moody lighting, deep pinks, plush velvets, and sultry leather accents, the space evokes an opulent Parisian speakeasy, equal parts glam and intrigue. The moment you enter, you’re enveloped in a scent that’s warm, rich, and utterly divine, an aromatic promise of the indulgence to come.
The evening began with a vegan burrata, a surprising delight. Creamy and convincingly rich, it paired beautifully with a subtle tomato base, setting the tone for a menu that leans classic but isn’t afraid to surprise. This was followed by beef carpaccio, expertly sliced, delicately seasoned, and melt-in-the-mouth tender. A true standout.
For mains, the spatchcock chicken was juicy and flavourful, elevated by a punchy lemon pepper jus. Paired with crisp, golden fries and perfectly cooked French beans, it struck a satisfying balance between hearty and elegant.
While my experience was set-menu focused, the wider offerings, from Sea Bass Dugléré to lobster rolls with lemon truffle hollandaise, suggest a kitchen unafraid to push the boundaries of traditional French cuisine with a luxe Mayfair twist. The cocktail menu, equally confident, promises indulgence with every glass, and the curated music, funk, soul, disco house carries the night into a more hedonistic rhythm.
Adding a playful twist to the night, at one point the waiters burst into a spontaneous napkin-spinning moment, bringing the whole room into a spirited buzz. It’s unexpected, fun, and adds to the sense of celebration that defines the Mistress experience.
Mistress of Mayfair is where decadence meets discretion, a place to see, be seen, and dine exceedingly well. Whether you’re after culinary finesse or a sultry late-night escape, Mistress delivers on both.
