Sakura Season in Full Bloom at Aqua Kyoto with The House of Suntory

This spring, Aqua Kyoto brings the magic of Japan’s iconic cherry blossom season to the heart of London, inviting guests to immerse themselves in a celebration of Sakura in collaboration with the prestigious House of Suntory. Originally planned as a seasonal showcase, the overwhelming popularity of the experience has led to an extended run of the dazzling floral installation — offering visitors even more time to bask in its beauty.

Transformed into a serene oasis of Japanese elegance, Aqua Kyoto’s interiors and open-air terrace now bloom with striking cherry blossom displays, evoking the fleeting yet profound beauty of springtime in Japan. The installation features delicate pink and white florals arranged in poetic arches and floating petals, creating an enchanting backdrop for both the restaurant and bar. Accented by traditional Japanese lanterns, the entire space feels like a tranquil escape above the bustle of the city.

Complementing the décor is a specially curated menu of Sakura-inspired dishes and cocktails, designed to evoke the flavours and artistry of Japan’s springtime traditions. A standout on the menu is the showstopping Sakura Tree dessert — a stunning, sculptural creation of cherry panna cotta, chocolate brownie, matcha crumble, and tart raspberry sorbet. It’s as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the palate.

To accompany the culinary experience, Aqua Kyoto has teamed up with The House of Suntory to craft a bespoke cocktail list, highlighting Japan’s most revered spirits. The menu showcases the elegant botanicals of Roku Gin, the smooth harmony of Hibiki Whisky, the crisp purity of Haku Vodka, and the refined balance of Toki Whisky.

Highlights include:

  • Hiragana – Roku Gin meets pomegranate, pandan leaf, lemon, and grapefruit soda for a refreshing, citrusy blend
  • Katana – A sweet and indulgent mix of Roku Gin, Midori, lychee, matcha tea, lemon, and foamera
  • Kanji – A zesty creation pairing Haku Vodka with Aqua Blanca, blood orange, lemon, and Fever Tree soda
  • Ume Old Fashioned – A refined take on a classic, blending Hibiki Japanese Harmony Whisky with umeshu, Lillet Blanc, and vanilla

While the limited-time Sakura specials are a key attraction, diners can also enjoy Aqua Kyoto’s signature classics. Favourites include black cod gyoza with mizuna miso, chicken yakitori with truffle teriyaki, and the indulgent 6+ Australian sirloin (180g), served with black garlic teriyaki, truffle egg tofu, pickled shimeji, and tomato miso — each dish a masterful balance of flavour, technique, and presentation.

Whether you’re drawn by the floral splendour, the innovative cocktails, or the refined Japanese cuisine, Aqua Kyoto’s Sakura season promises a sensory journey that lingers long after the last blossom falls.
