Hidden beneath a canopy of leaves and dappled sunshine, The Dorchester Summer Garden feels like stepping into a secret world. Tucked away beside The Dorchester London, this whimsical alfresco sanctuary is alive with oversized flowers reminiscent of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, sculptural art and vibrant Italian prints.
Created in collaboration with acclaimed Italian fashion house La DoubleJ, The Dorchester Summer Garden transforms one of London’s most iconic hotels into a colourful celebration of art, design and exceptional dining. Launched to coincide with the Chelsea Flower Show, the installation brings together fashion, craftsmanship and gastronomy in one of the capital’s most enchanting outdoor spaces.
Founded by former Los Angeles editor JJ Martin, La DoubleJ has become internationally recognised for its joyful use of bold prints and vibrant colour. Its philosophy, Raise Your Vibration, is woven throughout the garden. As a result, every detail is designed to create a destination that feels uplifting, playful and unmistakably luxurious.

Extending naturally from the celebrated Vesper Bar, designed by Martin Brudnizki, the garden unfolds through expressive textiles, patterned tableware and abundant floral displays. Meanwhile, towering kinetic sculptures by renowned American artist Lyman Whitaker sway gracefully above guests. Together, they introduce movement and rhythm throughout the space.
A sweeping carpet featuring La DoubleJ’s signature Napoli Rosa print flows beneath beautifully dressed tables. Inspired by the warmth and romance of southern Italy, it immediately sets the tone for the garden. Elsewhere, emerald-green glassware, sculptural vases, colourful cushions and elegant parasols complete the scene.
Meanwhile, the house’s whimsical Fantastic Creatures print appears throughout the installation. Imagined birds, flowers and botanical motifs blend seamlessly with the surrounding gardens. Together, they create a dreamlike landscape where fashion and nature exist in perfect harmony.

What To Order At The Dorchester Summer Garden
Created by The Dorchester’s Culinary Director Martyn Nail, the menu celebrates relaxed Italian-inspired alfresco dining. Here, seasonal ingredients take centre stage throughout.
Begin with the delicate Swordfish Crudo. Then, continue with crisp Courgette Flower Fritti with Grilled Prawns or comforting Morsetti di Lasagne. Meanwhile, the signature focaccia sandwiches are equally tempting. Choose from bresaola with sun-dried tomato, mozzarella and pesto. Alternatively, enjoy creamy gorgonzola with pistachio, tomato and rocket.
For those in the know, request the exclusive off-menu creation. The toasted focaccia wrap is filled with crispy chicken, creamy burrata and topped with luxurious Oscietra caviar.
Finally, round off your culinary adventure with cooling scoops of vanilla, chocolate or pistachio gelato. Alternatively, opt for a refreshing lemon sorbet. For something even more indulgent, order the delicate cannelloni generously filled with velvety chocolate mousse.

Celebrating A New Era For The Dorchester London
The collaboration arrives at a landmark moment for The Dorchester London. Indeed, it follows the completion of the hotel’s meticulous four-year restoration programme.
This new chapter includes the unveiling of the spectacular Royal Suite. In doing so, it marks the culmination of one of the hotel’s most ambitious transformations. Every detail has been thoughtfully refined. At the same time, the restoration honours The Dorchester’s celebrated heritage while embracing a new vision of contemporary luxury.

“It’s always a thrill when you find partners with whom you work so easily and effortlessly,” says JJ Martin, Founder of La DoubleJ.
“This was a dream project. The Dorchester, a symbol of high-end hospitality, has been wonderfully open to putting both our energetic as well as creative imprint on their beautiful property. In the garden you’ll see many of La DoubleJ’s ‘Raise Your Vibration’ signatures, from handcrafted Italian porcelain and wildly coloured linens to our giant wind sculptures, which we like to think of as Transmission Towers. It is all joy-inducing and very playful.”
Luca Virgilio, General Manager of The Dorchester London, adds:
“We are thrilled to partner with La DoubleJ, a brand that naturally aligns with our creative vision. This collaboration transforms our garden into a cultural destination while reflecting the energy and vibrancy of London. It also marks an exciting new chapter following our four-year renovation.”
Running until September 2026, The Dorchester Summer Garden with La DoubleJ is one of London’s most beautiful alfresco dining experiences.
