The Spencer Effect

Some collaborations feel clever. Others feel inevitable. Aspinal of London’s latest project with Lady Amelia and Lady Eliza Spencer lands somewhere in between – the kind of partnership that makes so much sense, you wonder why it didn’t happen sooner.

The British accessories house has long built its reputation on refinement without fuss. The Spencer twins, meanwhile, have become London’s quiet fashion fixtures – faces you recognise instantly, though you can’t quite recall where you first saw them. Together, they bring a kind of new-era polish to the brand: less debutante, more discreet modernism.

The sisters officially became Aspinal brand ambassadors in the summer of this year, fronting a nostalgic 60s-inspired campaign that imagined a sun-drenched English countryside filled with vintage convertibles, picnic baskets and daydream-worthy wardrobes. It was a perfect fit – their natural poise paired with Aspinal’s sense of timeless British charm. But this new launch marks a first: a genuine design collaboration between the sisters and the heritage label.

Their two new creations, the Eliza Clutch and the Amelia Bag, continue their ambassadorship but take it a step further. The Eliza is all control – sleek, structured, and a little nostalgic, with a shield-lock clasp dusted in 69 Preciosa crystals. It’s a bag for women who still appreciate a proper evening. The Amelia, by contrast, is fluid and free, a drawstring pouch reimagined in velvet and lambskin that swings with confidence and ease. Between the two sits an entire moodboard of British femininity: one foot in tradition, the other firmly in Soho.

The campaign, A Very Aspinal Christmas, captures the sisters at West Wycombe, all candlelight and couture, but the story runs deeper than seasonal sparkle. It’s about legacy – both familial and sartorial. The Spencers understand the weight of heritage, yet they wear it lightly, proving that a name alone doesn’t dictate relevance.

Aspinal’s wider Christmas collection continues that idea of enduring luxury. Monogrammed journals, crystal keyrings, and signature leather pieces are designed to be kept, not consumed. It’s a quiet reminder that elegance doesn’t chase trends; it simply exists, season after season.

For Amelia and Eliza, this collaboration feels like a natural evolution – the move from muses to makers. “Aspinal gave us the freedom to design our dream accessory,” they say. You get the sense they mean it.

The result? Two handbags that feel less like accessories and more like attitude. A study in confidence, craftsmanship, and the enduring charm of British design.
