A fresh chapter in Mauritian hospitality has begun with the unveiling of The St. Regis Le Morne, a sophisticated transformation of the former JW Marriott Mauritius Resort. Nestled at the foot of Le Morne Brabant, a dramatic UNESCO World Heritage Site, and fronting one of the island’s most coveted stretches of beach, the all-suite resort reintroduces this beloved address with the elegance, service and ritual that define the St. Regis legacy.
“This resort is a celebration of place, tradition and elevated luxury,” says Helen Leighton, Vice President of Luxury Brands, EMEA. “With The St. Regis Le Morne, we invite guests to experience Mauritius through the lens of timeless glamour and deeply personalised service.”
A Heritage Reimagined
The rebranding brings with it a refined aesthetic and considered enhancements, most notably at Le Manoir, the resort’s flagship restaurant, where the menu spotlights heritage Mauritian curries infused with local spice blends and coastal ingredients. Its sister venue, La Patisserie, now delivers a daily dose of indulgence through creations such as the Signature Exotic: a playful layering of passion fruit, banana and mango crowned with vanilla and coconut mousse and poached pineapple.
Later in the year, the St. Regis Grand Beachfront Villa will make its debut. Spanning over 1,600 square metres, this four-bedroom estate—with private decks, three plunge pools and an infinity pool—is designed for multi-generational stays or friends travelling together. Its refined beachside setting and gracious indoor-outdoor spaces nod to the intimate retreats once hosted by the Astor family, founders of the original St. Regis.
A Resort Steeped in Ritual and Culture
As with every St. Regis property around the world, daily rituals imbue the guest experience with a sense of occasion. The champagne sabering ceremony marks the transition from day to evening, while Afternoon Tea by the Sea invites guests to unwind beneath the shade of the colonial veranda or on the sand, with curated teas and pastries.
The resort’s take on the brand’s signature cocktail, the Bloody Mary, arrives with a Mauritian twist: the L’île Mary blends local cane rhum, curry leaf infusion, mango vinegar, black pepper, and masala foam—an homage to the island’s vibrant culinary identity.
Tailored Stays, Impeccable Service
At the heart of the experience is the St. Regis Butler Service, a hallmark of the brand for over a century. From unpacking luggage to orchestrating bespoke island experiences, the service is both intuitive and unobtrusive.
Family Traditions, a signature offering for younger guests, includes kite flying along Le Morne’s breezy beaches, pony rides, and private kitesurfing lessons. For active travellers, guided hikes up the mountain offer panoramic views and mid-hike refreshments. Culinary enthusiasts can take part in intimate Chef’s Table workshops using herbs and produce foraged from Caroline’s Garden, named after socialite and St. Regis matriarch, Caroline Astor.
Oceanfront Elegance with a Spirit of Adventure
Later this year, the resort will introduce The St. Regis Le Morne Pirogue, a restored traditional Mauritian boat offering private fishing trips, lagoon explorations and sunset cruises.
The peninsula remains a global magnet for kite surfers, particularly at ‘One Eye’, the legendary wave just offshore. For gentler pursuits, guests can paddleboard, snorkel or kayak through the aquamarine shallows that fringe the resort.
At Home in Paradise
“The St. Regis Le Morne represents the very best of island life—authentic, effortless and unforgettable,” says General Manager Mathieu de Tonnac. “Every detail, from design to daily rituals, honours both the legacy of St. Regis and the natural beauty of Mauritius.”
The resort is part of Marriott Bonvoy’s global luxury portfolio.
