For a beauty magpie, stepping into VIOLET GREY in Los Angeles feels like discovering Aladdin’s cave. I first discovered and stepped inside the Melrose Place boutique nearly a decade ago, and it instantly felt more like a private residence than a store – softly lit, impossibly chic, with glass cabinets of meticulously arranged products and plush seating that invites you to linger. It’s intimate, deliberate, and quietly indulgent; a space where every detail feels considered. You don’t browse, you absorb. I still have my VIOLET GREY makeup bag from that visit, carefully stored away — a small but lasting reminder of a place that redefined how beauty could be experienced.
Now, that world has officially arrived in London.

VIOLET GREY has made its long-anticipated UK debut through an exclusive partnership with Harvey Nichols, launching both in-store at the Knightsbridge flagship and via a dedicated online shop-in-shop on harveynichols.com.
Marking a major milestone in the brand’s international expansion, the residency brings VIOLET GREY’s signature West Coast perspective on beauty to the UK for the very first time — responding to years of demand from a highly engaged British audience.

For its London debut, the brand has created an intimate, immersive space on the ground floor of Harvey Nichols that feels worlds away from traditional beauty retail. Designed as part editorial office, part private salon, the environment mirrors the essence of the Melrose Place boutique: soft seating, considered details, and a tightly edited selection of products, each approved under the brand’s exacting VIOLET CODE OF APPROVAL.
Customers are encouraged to slow down, sit, and engage — with an elevated consultation space offering one-to-one appointments with dedicated beauty advisors. The result is a more personal, guided approach to beauty shopping, where context, expertise and trust take precedence over volume.
“VIOLET GREY was founded with a simple, straightforward mission — to enable customers to feel confident in their purchase decisions. Our product is trust,” says founder Cassandra Grey.

“The launch of VIOLET GREY into the UK market represents an important milestone in our global growth strategy,” adds Sherif Guirgis. “Partnering with Harvey Nichols allows us to introduce the Violet Grey standard of excellence to a highly sophisticated UK customer.”
At Harvey Nichols, the curated edit spans both cult icons and next-generation brands. Expect to discover names such as Vintner’s Daughter, Agent Nateur and Commune, alongside new-to-market additions including Dr. Diamond’s Metacine, Medical Beauty Research, Tronque and Eighth Day, as well as fragrance and hair from Sweet Chemistry and Filament Hair.

“As part of our ongoing transformation, we are committed to bringing the most sought-after brands and experiences to our customers,” says Julia Goddard. “Partnering with VIOLET GREY brings that vision to life.”
In a beauty landscape defined by endless choice, VIOLET GREY offers something far rarer: certainty. And now, for the first time, London gets to experience it firsthand.
Coinciding with the UK debut, Cassandra Grey also introduces her first fragrance, Madame Grey, a deeply personal extension of the VIOLET GREY universe. Created in collaboration with master perfumer Jérôme Epinette, the extrait de parfum is formulated at a potent 26% concentration, designed to linger on the skin and evolve over time.

Rather than leaning into traditional notions of romance, the scent captures something more elusive — the feeling of love lost. Housed in a handcrafted bottle produced in France and released in a limited run of just 1,100 editions, each iteration reflects a precise moment in the evolution of its raw materials, with subtle variations perceptible only to the most discerning nose.
Alongside it, the signature scent is reimagined as Pour Cheveux Strip-Tease, a lightweight hair mist designed to leave a delicate trail of fragrance while enhancing shine. Formulated with glycerin, aloe vera, chamomile and green tea extracts, it brings a softer, more diffused expression of the original composition.
Both are available now via Harvey Nichols and harveynichols.com.
