When The Clock Strikes Ned

There are New Year’s Eve plans and then there is New Year’s Eve at The Ned.

On Wednesday 31 December, the City’s grandest playground throws open its doors for a black-tie blowout that feels less like a party and more like a full-scale spectacle. From 8pm until late, the marble halls that once housed Midland Bank will trade quiet grandeur for pure, unapologetic glamour, fuelled by cocktails, fizz and the sort of music that makes staying out past midnight feel non-negotiable.

The headline act alone sets the tone. Beverley Knight takes to the stage with the kind of presence that demands attention, followed by a late-night set from DJ Fat Tony, who knows exactly how to keep a room moving when the clock tips into a new year. Around them, The Ned’s house band, roaming performers, aerialists and surprise moments turn the evening into something immersive, decadent and deliberately over the top.

This is not a sit-down dinner. There are no assigned seats and no polite pauses. Instead, guests drift between feasting stations, champagne flutes in hand, dipping into indulgent plates, expertly mixed cocktails and moments of theatre that pop up when you least expect them. The dress code is black tie, but the energy is anything but stiff. This is about movement, music and the joy of being swept along by the night.

As midnight approaches, the building itself seems to come alive. There is something undeniably cinematic about counting down the final seconds of the year beneath those soaring ceilings, surrounded by strangers who feel briefly like friends, all raising a glass at once. It is chaotic in the best possible way.

Tickets are £395 per person and, yes, it is an adults only affair. Consider it a grown-up New Year done properly, without compromises or early nights. This is the kind of evening that starts strong and ends whenever you decide you have danced enough.

For those new to The Ned, the setting is half the magic. Opened in 2017 inside Sir Edwin Lutyens’ 1924 masterpiece, it has become one of London’s most distinctive social spaces, home to ten restaurants, live music, private members’ areas and a calendar packed with events that never feel predictable. Whether you are a regular or a first timer, New Year’s Eve here feels like stepping into the city at its most confident.

If you are going to see in the new year, you may as well do it The Ned way.
