Bébé Bob: Champagne, Caviar and Chicken

Step into the world of Bébé Bob, where rotisserie chicken reigns supreme alongside the bubbly embrace of fine wine and champagne. Sitting pretty on Golden Square, this Soho hotspot is the epitome of comfort wrapped in old-world glamour.

Bébé Bob comes from the team behind Bob Bob Ricard, founded by British entrepreneur Leonid Shutov in 2008. Designed by the legendary David Collins, the restaurant specialises in French and British cuisine and is famous for its exceptionally well-priced fine wine list, and the iconic ‘Press for Champagne’ button. Its sister restaurant Bob Bob Ricard City opened in 2018 in the Leadenhall Building, before passing the baton to Bébé Bob.

This newborn establishment retains the signature hallmarks of Bob Bob: an eclectic sense of style, flamboyant décor, flawless service and a meticulous approach to French cooking, all wrapped in the allure of London’s best-value champagne and fine wines. However, there’s a twist. To quote Leonid Shutov: the menu offers “any main course the customer wants as long as it is chicken or chicken.” No ifs, ands, or clucks.

Stepping into Bébé Bob is like revisiting the roaring twenties; imagine Gatsby-esque flair accentuated by plush banquettes and a vibrant yellow granite bar counter. Every detail, from the monogrammed plates to the bespoke glassware, speaks volumes about the restaurant’s commitment to being the crème de la crème of rotisserie experiences.

Under the culinary mastery of Head Chef Sherwin Mauro and Executive Chef Ben Hobson – these guys work around the cluck – Bébé Bob’s menu revolves around succulent Vendée and Landais chickens, cooked to perfection and served for two. Sides are no mere accompaniments; the Roast Potatoes in chicken fat, Truffled Cauliflower Cheese, and Sautéed Kale kissed with confit garlic are all im-peck-able.

Although the chicken is the undisputed star of the show, the starters certainly hold their own. Guests are spoilt for choice with options such as Anchovy Egg Mayonnaise, Smoked Salmon, Paleta de Bellota Iberico and a VSOP Prawn Cocktail bathed in Cognac Marie Rose sauce. If this doesn’t beak your interest, there are also three different types of caviar to choose from.

The drinks list is meticulously curated to complement the chicken, with Head of Wines Giacomo Recchia ensuring there is a symphony of Champagne, Burgundy, and global favourites. The Cuvaison 2021 Chardonnay, a straw-coloured, buttery liquid, deserves a hen-erable mention.

Bébé Bob is open for lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, and between noon and 5pm on Sundays.

Go chick it out.
