CHANEL N°5 Holiday Collection with Kay Montano

The first half of 2021 was a blur of lockdowns and uncertainty so with the festive season upon us, we are in the mood to celebrate more than ever before.

Luckily, CHANEL N°5 Holiday Collection has arrived with all of the staples you need for the party season. It has been over a century since CHANEL N°5 was released and it has remained the best-selling perfume in the world.

For the N°5 Holiday Collection, CHANEL Makeup Creation Studio were inspired by the iconic fragrance, from the minimalist design of the bottle to the unprecedented power of the name.

For the eyes, there is a decadent Les 4 Ombres N°5 Eyeshadow palette with gold, amber, cream and black hues and the glorious Ombre Premiere Laque Glitter liquid eyeshadows in ambre or noir.

For the nails there is a rich red Le Vernis varnish in Rouge Intemporel and for the lips there are five sumptuous Rouge Allure lipstick shades to choose from.

To beautifully illuminate your skin there is the Baume Essentiel multi-use glow stick and the Fluide Enlumineur. So, highlight those cheekbones, apply a slash of red lipstick and RSVP to every party invitation, after all, it is the most wonderful time of the year.

Kay Montano is one of the most iconic makeup artists in the industry. Her clientele includes Hollywood stars such as Rachel Weisz, Julianne Moore and Salma Hayek to Zoe Kravitz, Cara Delevingne and Anne Hathaway.

She is also a CHANEL Beauty Ambassador and we were lucky enough to steal a few moments with her where she taught us how to master the perfect festive look using the magical N°5 Holiday Collection.

  • For the festive season collection, CHANEL was inspired by the gloriously golden hue of N°5. What does CHANEL N°5 mean to you?

For me, Chanel N°5 evokes timeless elegance, everything I imagined a grown-up woman should be when I saw Catherine Deneuve as the face of the fragrance growing up.

  • What are your personal highlights from the new collection?

I love the Ombre Premiѐre Laque Glitter in 17 – Or Noir (the shine has a cinematic quality), and Rouge Allure N°5 reds. I can’t choose, I need them all, but if I had to, I’d say 147 – Emblématique. I also love the Les Beiges Sheer Highlighting Fluid in Or Ivoire applied on the cheekbones.

  • Do you have any tips on how to apply the new collection? Anything we should be mindful of?

Apply the Les Beiges Sheer Highlighting Fluid in Or Ivoire on cheekbones and eyes only, for maximum accentuation in the right places. Noses and chins don’t need highlighting.

  • Can you talk us through your perfect festive look for 2021? Perhaps daytime and for the evening?

You simply cannot go wrong with some smoldering black smudged around the eyes from the root of your lashes. If you have very round eyes, or have dark circles, avoid using dark colours underneath your eyes, use near your top lashes only, softly smudging upwards at the outer edges of the eyes. Lashings of mascara is the only other thing you need, coupled with a fabulous red lip.

  • What are your plans for the holiday season?

Spending lots of time with all my loved ones. This will feel more special than ever this year.
