The Hotspot – Isabel, Mayfair

Isabel is easily one of the most spectacularly beautiful and opulent dining rooms in London, situated in a Beaux-Arts inspired building which dates back to 1905. The walls are lined with a decadent golden fabric and perfect rows of polished brass lamps are studded in the ceiling. It’s worth visiting Isabel even for a peek at the bathrooms which are an aesthetic masterpiece, with walls decorated with hand-painted De Gournay wallpaper.

Isabel serves an array of Latin American and Mediterranean-influenced menus, including express lunch, à la carte and weekend brunch. Whichever you choose, expect a perfectly presented dish, made with the freshest seasonal ingredients which is almost too beautiful to eat. Start with the award-winning Lost in Coyoacan by Scarlet Ganzoni, made with Casa Dragones Blanco Tequila, Cordial del Mercado, Fair Dark Cacao Liqueur, Amaro Averna, Chocolate and Mole Bitters and Dragon Fruit.

To start, opt for the Wild Sea Bass Ceviche with lime, chilli and coriander or the Burrata with pea and mint tartare in a herb salad with almond dressing. For the main course, the Australian Winter Truffle Risotto with aged parmesan is divine, as is the 300g Westholme Wagyu Rump Steak accompanied by Isabel’s signature corn salad which is bejewelled with pomegranate. For dessert, opt for Isabel’s decadent take on the Eton Mess or the Champagne Poached Pear with Hazelnut.
