This idyllic corner of the Datça Peninsula is a secluded haven, sprawled across a breath of unspoiled land.
Set on a peaceful hillside, backed by lush pine forest and fronted with the glistening turquoise waters of both, the Mediterranean and Aegean seas, D Maris Bay is encapsulated in nature. The grounds boast a rich ecosystem, with a wealth of bird species, fragrant flora, and marine life, and along its private coastline lie six white powder sand beaches, each more inviting than the last. They are marked with signature hues (think tangerine, apple green and vanilla) swept across the sunbeds and parasols that line perfectly in uniform. Out in the distance, a dramatic skyline of mountains stands, further adding to the marvellous landscape.
The resort is roughly a two-hour drive from Dalaman airport, and as you wind along the coastal roads, approaching the entrance, you realise how truly tucked away it is. It’s the kind of place where you check in, settle down, and forget the world outside – until it’s time to check out again. For those seeking peace and seclusion, it’s paradise, and that’s equally true for those who can’t sit still. There’s plenty to see and do, no doubt; even a week at D Maris Bay will leave you with some stones left unturned.
The lobby is grand and leads way to the terrace. It’s the first opportunity to take in the magnificent views. Fortunately, though, it doesn’t end there as there are barely any areas of the resort that are not graced by similar scenery, including the rooms and suites. Those who opt for the Sea View categories are particularly in for a treat as the breathtaking sights are seen even when sitting in the bathtub. Throughout the rooms, the decor is classic, washed in dark oak and flooded with light from the floor-to-ceiling windows.
When it comes to curation, D Maris Bay has nailed it. Across the resort, you’ll see partnerships and collaborations with top names in both hospitality and retail. For the second year running, the Dioriveria takeover returns. Blush Toile de Jouy is seen in every corner, down to the fine details, decking out the outdoor infinity pool. A few steps away, ready-to-wear is on hand at the Dior boutique. La Guerite journeys from Cannes to the tip of the bay, Capri’s charm is tucked away, and Zuma takes centre stage, with an intimate new pop-up on Silent Beach. In the wellness space, there’s LUX Tennis, providing exclusive coaching sessions on the court.
The resort is vast so getting around on foot can be a mission, but luckily there’s a duo of buggies and water taxis at the ready. The latter is a highly efficient and scenic way around, and you’ll be hopping on and off throughout your stay. Another notable form of transport that will have you finding any excuses to go up and down is the funicular lift. Hidden amongst the trees, it offers front-row views as it descends to the bay.
Namely, D Maris Bay Resort is set on a gentle bay, and at the heart of it is Bay Beach. It’s the largest beach of the collection and is in closest proximity to the hotel. This area of the bay is home to both the tennis and paddle courts, along with basketball, volleyball and mini football areas. A short away is the kids club, mini market and the water sports centre is just down the deck.
Directly behind the beach is a selection of restaurants, including the newly opened Aurora Capri. The arrival of this beloved Capri family-run restaurant has been highly anticipated and is ideally fitting, as it transports Italian culinary flair to the Turkish Riviera. Equally as enchanting as Capri, in its own respect, this resort perfectly aligns with the vision and stands as the first official outpost. The menu retains the essence of Italian simplicity and Aurora Capri’s 130-year-old legacy, with signature staples, such as the famed, airy ’Pizzallacqua®’, butter-smooth ‘Basil Gnocchi’ and creamy ‘Pappardelle with Black Truffle’. Additionally, a handful of the heritage recipes have been carefully reimagined for the Turkish palate, incorporating local seasonal ingredients.
Next door is D Maris Kitchen, offering local Turkish cuisine. When in Turkey, it would be wrong not to, of course. A medley of Anatolian and Aegean influences are found in their flavoursome mezzes and dishes. Here you’ll enjoy the delicacies of Lahmacun and Pide in a refined fashion. On the same strip follows Nusr-et, with Salt Bae’s iconic premium steak cuts, and DD Scoop & DD Pastry’s Pinterest-perfect dessert parlours.
Whether you’re sailing into the sunset aboard the Alia Open Sea charter yacht, exploring hidden forest trails, dancing under the stars at Manos’ Greek Taverna, or toasting with champagne at Green Hill as guinea fowl strut past, every moment at D Maris Bay promises an experience beyond words.
