Recipe: ‘The Golden Tail’ Whiskey Cocktail, Nashville

Tennessee has a great tradition of whiskey making and is the home to dozens of great brands like Jack Daniels, George Dickel Rye, Heaven’s Door Staight Bourbon, Prichard’s Tennessee Whiskey, Green Brier, the list abounds. This particular whiskey based cocktail is designed to transport you from the confines of your sitting room far away to the ‘whiskey heaven’ of Nashville, Tennessee.

This cocktail, the recipe for which we share with you today, takes inspiration from one of Nashville’s oldest and greatest distilleries. ‘Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery’ is a family run business which was set up in Nashville by local hero Charles Nelson in the 1800’s. Nelson was one of the first to bottle whiskey for sale rather than refilling jugs and barrels, moonshine style. He quickly became a household name to rival the likes of Jack Daniels before the prohibition era kicked in.

Ingredients

57 ml of whiskey (preferably Tennessee whiskey for an authentic experience, Green Brier is best of all)

21 ml fresh lemon juice

14 ml of honey

7 ml of Allspice Dram

1 dash of chocolate bitters

Method

Just add all of the ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled and strain into a chilled coupe glass (or the equivalent).
