Signs That You Need to Update Your Bedroom

It’s not easy to find the right time for a bedroom update, but it is important. Your room should reflect your personality and style while giving you plenty of space to relax. But what are the signs that show it might be time to update your bedroom? Let’s take a look at some of them below.

1. It’s Too Small

If you find that your bedroom is too small for all of your furniture and belongings, then it might be time to rebuild or relocate some items. If you’re finding that you can’t open your drawers or walk around the bed, there isn’t much space left in the room.

A good general rule of thumb is that your room should be a minimum of seven feet wide and seven feet long. If it’s any smaller, the space will quickly become cluttered and feel cramped.

2. You Aren’t Sleeping Well

Are you finding that you aren’t sleeping well at night? Your bedroom is the place where you should be able to go to rest and relax, so if it isn’t giving you the peace and quiet you need, it might be time for a makeover. Or maybe you need a mattress change? If that’s the case, a simple google search of the phrase “shop the mattress” will show you all your available options in the area, and that’s pretty much all it takes. You want to be able to relax in the bedroom and just enjoy being there. If you find that noisy neighbors or street lights are preventing you from sleeping, it might be time for a new room. You can purchase a goose down duvet, blackout curtains or even earplugs to create a more peaceful atmosphere. Remember, your bedroom should be a sanctuary, not a source of stress.

3. It Doesn’t Reflect Your Personality

If you’re finding that you don’t enjoy being in your bedroom because it doesn’t express your personality, it might be time to update. Even if you have a lot of sentimental things in your bedroom, if they aren’t bringing you joy anymore, take them out.

A bed is the most important piece of furniture in any bedroom. You want something that reflects your own personal style and that makes you happy when you walk into your room.

4. It is Outdated

If your bedroom is feeling old and dated, it might be time to update it. You can keep certain sentimental items as long as they still bring you joy, but if everything in your room makes you feel uncomfortable, it will be time for a change.

Updating the bedroom means taking out those things that aren’t bringing you joy anymore and replacing them with new decorations. If the only thing that is making you happy in your old room is a certain piece of art, try exchanging it for a new one.

5. Your Bedroom Looks Like Everyone Else’s

If your bedroom looks just like everyone else’s bedroom, it might be time to update. You want your room to reflect you and your personality while clearly making it different from the rest of the rooms in your house. If it’s lacking individuality, take steps to create one!

Yours is the room that you should be able to express yourself in. Being surrounded by items that aren’t your style just makes you feel uncomfortable.

You can update your bedroom without spending a lot of money. All it takes is an hour or two and some creativity! You can paint a wall, change the bedding, or hang up some fun artwork to give your room a new look.

6. You Can’t Stand It Anymore!

Sometimes a room needs an update because you just can’t take it anymore. If you find that your bedroom is so cluttered and messy, you feel embarrassed anytime someone walks into the room or if you have a lot of dust everywhere, then it might be time to update. Whether it’s painting or rearranging furniture, there are many options for freshening up your room.

 7. Your Kids are Out of Control!

Kids are messy, that’s just a fact of life. But if you find your kids or their friends turned your bedroom into a playroom rather than keeping it as the place to sleep and store clothes, it might be time to update. It’s not fair to you if your children are taking over your room.

Kids should respect the fact that this is your room and they need to keep it clean. If they are turning it into a dumping ground for toys, put your foot down and demand that it gets cleaned up immediately.

Of course, the best thing to do is to go shopping for new bedding and bedroom furniture that reflects your own personal style while making sure it has plenty of space for storage. Remember that each person’s needs are different so think about what would best suit your lifestyle before shopping for new bedroom furniture.
